Ince Minare Madrassa
Built in 1264, this Seljuk madrassa famed for its stonework now serves as the Museum of Stone and Wood Works.
The İnce Minare Madrassa was built in 1264-1265 by Seljuk Vizier Sahip Ata Fahreddin Ali. The most striking element of the building is its portal (entrance gate) richly covered with exquisite stonework. The madrassa's single minaret was shortened over time due to lightning strikes, earning it the name 'İnce (Slender) Minaret'. Today it functions as the Museum of Stone and Wood Works, displaying Seljuk-era inscriptions, figured stone sculptures, tombstones, and wooden artifacts. The stone bas-reliefs of winged angel figures in the museum are counted among the most original examples of Seljuk art.
