Sultan Selim Mosque (Selimiye)

Sultan Selim Mosque is located in the Karatay district of Konya, right next to the Mevlana Tomb. The construction of the mosque began during the reign of Suleiman the Magnificent and was completed under Sultan Selim II. The architecture of the mosque is attributed to Mimar Sinan, considered one of the finest examples of the classical Ottoman period. The mosque is notable for its monumental gate, large courtyard, and twin minarets, as well as its interior decorations and acoustics. The interior is adorned with pencil work decorations and a spacious dome, offering visitors a peaceful atmosphere.
