Karatay Madrasa (Tile Works Museum)

The Karatay Madrasa, located in the Karatay district of Konya, is a significant educational and cultural center from the Anatolian Seljuk period. Constructed in 1251 by Emir Celaleddin Karatay, this building is particularly noted for its tile decorations, representing some of the finest examples of Seljuk architecture. The madrasa's covered courtyard, with its dome and walls adorned with intricate tile work, is a highlight. These tiles include pieces brought from the Kubadabad Palace. During the Seljuk era, the madrasa served not only as an educational institution but also as a religious and social center. Today, it functions as a Tile Works Museum, offering visitors insights into the refined art of the Seljuk period.
