Mevlana Museum
The iconic complex housing the tomb of Celaleddin Rumi, symbol of Konya.
The Mevlana Museum was built in the garden of roses during the reign of the Anatolian Seljuk Sultan Alaeddin Keykubad II. The mausoleum of Mevlana Jalaluddin Rumi, who passed away in the 13th century, gradually grew into the complex it is today. Converted into a museum in 1925, it is one of the most important spiritual centers in the Turkish-Islamic world. The green tiled dome above the tomb has become the symbol of Konya's skyline. The museum houses manuscripts, Mevlevi musical instruments, historic clothing, and personal belongings. Millions visit each year for the Shab-i Arus ceremony held in December.
How to Get There
Within walking distance of Konya city center; about 10 minutes on foot from Alaeddin Hill. Take the bus to the Mevlana stop.
